Ali
Having been the 'Her' to a 'Hitman' called Steve working on a mobile 'Laser discoteque' in the late 80s, Ali volunteered to hand out leaflets for Kennet Radio but ended up presenting a show. It's always better to try and fail than to regret not giving it a go!
Arabella Christian
Brian Harrington
A refugee from 1960's offshore pirate radio (Radio England) Brian has always loved music. Brian worked as a mobile DJ for some years in the 80's and 90's and now writes music reviews in the local press. Brian's musical tastes cross many genres with an emphasis on music that is off the beaten track as opposed to mainstream. Sometimes great music isn't commercial.
Bryan James
Carol Shipley
Carol presents the Saturday Sunrise show every week between 7-9 am to ease listeners gently into Saturday morning whether they're getting ready for work or waking up gently on a weekend off. It's a mix of nature and planet earth topics, mind & body health, seasonal and topical features and plenty of music from chilled to joyous to put you into the best frame of mind for the weekend ahead.
Carole Throup
Carole has been involved with Kennet Radio from the early days. Having been involved in Musical Theatre and Amateur Dramatics for many years, and loving the pictures that radio makes it was an adventure too good to miss. Carole can be heard on the fourth Friday of the month with "Let's Hear It For The Girls". This is two hours of female musicians and vocalists, from Ella Fitzgerald to Patti Smith, Jessie Ware to Joni Mitchell, along with Jorga Smith, and Olivia Dean. What ever the style you will find it here at some point. "The Sound of the Seventies" is on Sunday mornings at 10am, for two hours. Here Carole shares the many genres of music from the Seventies, and interesting items to stir the memory. Listen out too for an occasional programme of Soft Rock featuring the smooth sounds from the West Coast, Toto, Foreigner, Styx. Journey from the sixties to current day with this great mix of music and transport yourself to sunnier climes.
Chris Boulton
I have been into Soul music from my teens, helped out various DJ friends in my youth but only got to present my own show on Kennet Radio in 2014 and was hooked! Although I have a broad interest in Soul, Funk and R&B, my main personal interest is Northern Soul - I still collect rare 7 inch vinyl's. My day job is with a local charitable trust and I am also an artist working mainly in oil paints. Live in Hampshire now (via London) but originally made in Staffordshire.
Chris Capel
I've been a presenter and general volunteer at Kennet Radio for just over 2 years. My first experience of presenting for Kennet Radio was 'The Chris & Co Show' where I would interview interesting guests and play some of their favourite music, a 'Desert Island Disc' type format. I now present or co present the following shows: 'Friday Afternoon Delight' 'Saturday Sport' and 'A-Z of Rock' every third week of the month. From a personal perspective I took early retirement in 2016 as I was keen to get away from the drudge and stress of 'Corporate Life' and focus on giving something back in the community. With local radio being a passion of mine for some considerable time and it's Kennet Radio I thank for giving me the opportunity to do so. I also do some voluntary work within the Lambourn Valley where I live, I'm chairman of the local Village Hall, and I also play drums in a covers band primarily playing rock. So basically I'm an extremely busy boy!.
Chris Diesel
Chris started clubbing back in 2000, going to various parties including Frantic, Pickle, Xlr8, Solid Sunday etc. Then he fell in love with the DJing and music and was inspired by seeing DJs such as Phil Reynolds and Nikki S performing. At that point, Chris decided he wanted to give mixing a go himself. So, he made the jump from being on the dancefloor to going behind the decks. And in 2009, he played his first gig playing at Refre5h at Club 414. Chris has continued to enjoy mixing at home, and this musical journey over the past 10 years has taken him from Trance into Hard Trance and finally now into Hard House. He is always constantly wanting to learn and discover new things and techniques and hopes that people enjoy listening to his music. While Chris admits he loves mixing, particularly different music genres, this hasn’t dimmed his enjoyment of clubbing. So, you will often see him dancing away on the dancefloor with a big smile on his face. “I want to put that same on people’s faces with my music in the same way that my favourite DJ’s have lifted me up and made me dance away on the dancefloor!”

Radio will never be the same again.
David Marsh
I'm a former national newspaper journalist and the author of a funny – or so I claim – grammar book, For Who the Bell Tolls. I took early retirement from The Guardian to spend more time with my record collection, from which I play stuff on the first Sunday of the month from 9-11pm on my show, The Beat Goes On – a quirky, eclectic selection of great music from the last half century or so.

So for those about to rock we salute you
Nick Carter
Nick's been a radio fan from age of 6 - first listening to Tony Blackburn, the tuning around the dial for east European stations. He set up a station at school, but radios were banned there so he 'branched' out to broadcasting from trees and water towers. A chance introduction to Radio Caroline brough a passion for it, with Nick joining in the late 80s. He joined Kennet Radio in 2018. Join him on Saturdays from 9am for newer music, choice oldies, local events and the lighter side of happenings.
Paul Bulger
Cars, music and movies. All 3 together is the perfect combination. Host of 'Sunday night at the movies' ( 2nd Sunday of every month 7pm - 9pm )
Paul Walter
A West Berkshire resident since 1985. Now retired after a long career in the IT industry in Berkshire. He is doing voluntary work and ticking off items from his "bucket list". He does about a dozen regular voluntary roles, mainly in West Berkshire. He is delighted to be volunteering at Kennet Radio. Paul worked on Radio 210, based in Calcot, from 1979 to 1984. That involved carrying around vast quantities of vinyl records and huge tape cartridges. So he is very much enjoying using the new technology. However, he still can't work out how to play his 78rpm discs!

Stephen Ottner
With no real radio experience Stephen got sucked-in to Kennet Radio after being a guest on Get it on with Garry. Stephen's only previous radio experience was as a student as part of a team running a popup station for rag week (we won't say just how many years ago). Stephen moved to Newbury in 1984 working for a number of years at Norsk Data before working in London for Channel Four and taking up the grind of commuting by train. He has been a steward at Arlington Arts for many years and is a trustee of ACE Space and an instructor at Shalbourne Gliding. Although devoid of any music making ability live music consumes much of his time these days. Stephen presents Folk Ace which covers folk/roots/Americana gigs coming up in and around Newbury and Thatcham (4th Tuesday of the month) and interviews with guests involved with live music (2nd Tuesday of the month). Stephen also pops up in Shire Folk Showcase (5th Wednesday of the month) along with Graham Hobbs and Jonathan Roscoe who play the best of newly released, and not yet released, Folk and Americana.
Steve Howe
I started work with Kennet Radio during the early stages of the FM project with a show on Saturday afternoon, nestled between the Saturday Sports show and Keep Off The Grass. My show is an eclectic mix of music, a wander through our music libraries here in "The Crow's Nest". My shows are tightly scheduled (ha ha) and prone to diversion on the spur of the moment, often prompted by a listener comment or request. I hope you'll join me and be part of the madness!
